Gasum and Caverion launch cooperation in monitoring and maintaining gas filling stations in Finland, Sweden and Norway

Energy company Gasum and Caverion have agreed on partnership concerning the monitoring and maintenance of Gasum’s gas filling stations for light and heavy-duty gas-fueled vehicles. Cooperation will initially start in Finland and Sweden,  and will be expanded to Norway later this year.

Caverion will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of gas filling stations in Finland, Sweden and Norway, as well as for remote center services, remote control and technical HelpDesk services 24/7 for all gas filling stations. Gasum Tekniikka Oy has main responsibility for the technical upkeep and maintenance of gas filling stations in Southern Finland and for technical gas services requiring special know-how.

“We are building the Nordic gas ecosystem and increasing the availability of gas for different customer segments. It is good to begin cooperation with Caverion, a Nordic operating partner. Use of gas in traffic is currently growing in all vehicle categories. The next few years will see Gasum invest in the construction of a network of 50 gas filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles in Finland, Sweden and Norway. These new gas stations will be located in key logistics hubs and promote transport using low-emission gas in the Nordics,” says Ari Suomilammi, Director, Circular Economy Finland, at Gasum.

“We’re pleased with this new cooperation, where we can serve our customers in Finland, Sweden and Norway through a consistent, comprehensive service concept using our local experts. Achieving a carbon-neutral society requires a lot of effort and we are contributing to creating opportunities for low-emission transport,” says Thomas Hietto, Head of the Services Business Unit at Caverion.

The number of gas-fueled cars is expected to show significant growth over the next few years. In 2018, there were approximately 6,300 registered gas-fueled vehicles in Finland. Under the National Energy and Climate Strategy 2030, there should be at least 50,000 gas-fueled passenger cars in Finland in 2030. New gas filling stations are being constructed to a fast schedule in all Nordic countries.
